Loving This Week: Watermelon Glow + Luxe Laundry Detergent

Monday, January 15, 2018

COS Sweater - Dried van Noten Boots - Glow Recipe Sleeping Mask - The Laundress Detergent - Misha Nonoo Shirt

It’s so rare to find a skincare product that 100% delivers on all its promises. So, when I tripped across Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Glow in a bag of samples from Sephora, I wasn’t expecting a lot. But, I’m happy to report that this delicious-smelling sleeping mask made my skin as glowing and even-textured as promised. I’ve found a new favorite.

In other shopping news, a pair of brocade boots that are richly detailed, but still completely at home in a neutral wardrobe. And perfumed laundry detergent that will make your wardrobe smell just like the contemporary section at Harrod’s. If you’ve ever been there, you know that’s a good thing.

Check out all my top shopping picks for the week…

1. COS Collage Merino-Yak Jumper, $115.00
The contrasting back panel, which is a ribbed wool and yak hair blend, gives this wool sweater some extra visual interest. If, like me, you are starting to feel like all your sweaters kind of look the same, this could be the antidote.

Loving This Week: Comfort Pumps + a Mulberry Silk Dress

Monday, January 08, 2018

Modern Citizen Blouse - Longchamp Tote - Naturalizer Pumps - Kiehl's Skincare - COS Dress

This week’s picks answer some pressing shopping questions like, “Can Longchamp really improve on their already perfect travel tote?” And, “Can a trendy heel also be orthopedic-level comfortable?” The answer is “yes” to both.

Also, buying holiday-packaged beauty goods in January is the best. The prices are fantastic, and literally no one is going to ever see (or care) that your lotion has snowflakes on the label.

Check out my favorite online shopping picks for the week…

1. Modern Citizen Albertine Ruffled Collar Blouse, $88.00
I’m a big fan of this new San Francisco-based label, which specializes in beautifully designed, affordable pieces, many of which are perfectly work appropriate. This cotton-blend blouse will look equally great with distressed denim and office separates.

Loving This Week: A Cozy Cape + The Warmest Hat Ever

Wednesday, December 13, 2017

Uniqlo Cap - By Terry Eyeshadow - Foundrae Ring - J.Crew Cape - Everlane Crossbody

I love winter, but my thin California blood can’t handle real cold. I’m so glad I found out about Uniqlo’s Heattech line. I’ve been a loyal Heattech customer since the days where you had to special order it from Japan. Luckily Uniqlo is now available in major cities and online. I couldn’t make it through winter without it. A couple of snuggly Heattech knit caps were high on my shopping list this week. In other news, an inspiration quote ring that isn’t too sweet to pair with a mostly-black wardrobe. I had no idea this was possible.

Check out all of my favorite online shopping finds for this week…

1. Uniqlo Heattech Knitted Cap, $9.90
If you live in a cold climate, or just plan on visiting one, Uniqlo Heattech is a must-have. This range of layering pieces and accessories genuinely keeps you warm. I live in a part of California that barely qualifies as having seasons, but every year I manage to visit someplace very cold in the middle of winter. I have an entire Heattech drawer filled with tees, tanks, leggings, and socks ready for the next trip. And yet, I still find new pieces to add to my collection. I just stocked up on these Heattech caps. I picked up light gray and dark gray. It’s also available in six other colors.

Loving This Week: Kitten Heel Boots + Platinum Hair Secret Sauce

Wednesday, December 06, 2017

RACHEL Rachel Roy Dress - M.Gemi Boots - Essie Nail Polish - Olaplex Hair Protector - COS Coat

For the first time this season it feels like winter here in Northern California. So, coats and boots are top of mind right now. I have two gorgeous finds in this week’s round up. I also want to share a couple of recent purchases I’m loving: a wear-everywhere minimalist dress at an outstanding price and a sleek neutral nail polish that feels super modern.

Check out all of my favorite finds for the week…

1. RACHEL Rachel Roy Sydney High-Low Dress, $99.00 $51.79
New theory: RACHEL Rachel Roy is the most underrated label at the mall. I tried on this dress on a whim while birthday shopping with my bestie in Denver. It fit like a dream and had a modern minimalist vibe that was more than a little reminiscent of Helmut Lang. I thought it was a steal at $99.00, but at this sale price…seriously, don’t pass this up!

Loving This Week: Grown-Up Party Shoes + ‘70s-Style Faux Fur

Monday, November 13, 2017

Topshop Jacket - Coach Crossbody - M.Gemi Pumps - SpaceNK Kit - Need Blouse

This week’s picks are equal parts vintage-inspired fall finds and holiday party must-haves. And, oddly, they all look kind of nice together. I’m really loving the idea of the slouchy faux fur over a slip dress for a night out. So, it all works.

Check out all of my favorite online shopping finds for the week…

1. Topshop Kendall Faux Fur Jacket, $150.00
This faux fur jacket has a lived-in vintage ‘70s vibe that is just a little bit cooler than the low price would have you believe. I’d order it a size larger to exaggerate the vintage feel.

Loving This Week: Waffle Knits + Vegan Whitening Toothpaste

Tuesday, October 31, 2017

Madewell Sweater - Everlane Blouse - Glossier Boy Brow - Botkier Boots - Hello Toothpaste

This week’s favorites include two beauty products that are both affordable and standouts in their respective categories. First, I’m a little late to the party, but I’m here to say that Glossier Boy Brow fully lives up to the hype. Buy it. Seriously. Elsewhere in the medicine cabinet, I ran across a vegan whitening toothpaste that does hard work while being free of all sorts of icky questionable ingredients.

Check out all of my favorite shopping picks for the week…

1. Madewell Wafflestitch Sweater Coat, $150.00

This cozy knit will work as a coat in mild climates, and a layering piece in colder climates.

Loving This Week: Fresh Multi-Masking Set + a Pave Pinky Ring

Monday, October 16, 2017

Rag and Bone Jeans - Kork-Ease Boots - David Yurman Ring - Fresh Face Masks - Lush Dress

A couple little luxuries have crept into this week’s roundup, including Rag & Bone’s latest foray into the world of ultra-premium denim. Luckily for our pocketbooks, not all luxuries require a hefty down payment. Fresh’s new multi-masking set includes three luxurious best-selling masks, and will set you back less than $60.

Check out all my favorite online shopping finds for this week…

1. Rag & Bone Rbw15 Jeans, $350.00
This is the premium denim find of the season. This is 14-ounce custom made Japanese Nihon Menpu selvedge denim fashioned into a high-rise cropped straight jean like only Rag & Bone can make. It’s perfection.

Loving This Week: Boss Boots + Lots of Mascara

Monday, October 09, 2017

Lemaire Sweater - Everlane Boots - Calpack Packing Cubes - Sephora Mascara - Botkier Handbag

So, I started a new job last week. It’s my first new “day job” in just over ten years. I forgot how exhausting it is to change workplaces. New computers that don’t work, figuring out a nonsensical phone system, “meeting” a dozen new people via conference call whose names you’ll never remember. The struggle is real.

To combat the second-Monday-of-new-job blues, I’m online window shopping for happy fall finds, like affordable point-toe boots that are a dead ringer for Acne Studios. And mascara multi-packs. And packing cubes, because it’s never too early to plan for vacation.

Check out all of my favorite online shopping finds for the week…

1. Lemaire Fitted Sweater, $557.00
Everything about this sweater works. The rich pumpkin color is gorgeous. The fitted shape is modern, and those buttons are fun without being too whimsical for work.

Loving This Week: Eel Skin Boots + Corduroy Crops

Monday, September 11, 2017

COS Jumper - Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Makeup - Trademark Boots - J. Hannah Necklace - Marc Jacobs Pants

I definitely have a mad case of ready-for-fall. I’m ready to be cozy in layers of soft fabrics and chic boots. Corduroy, jewel-colored boots, and boucle knits have all turned my head this week. How about you?

Check out all of my favorite online shopping finds for the week…

1. COS Boucle Wool Jumper, $99.00
COS has quickly become my favorite store. Their pieces are the just-right combination of quality, affordability, and modern minimalist style. And, unlike just about every other affordable clothing line, all of their fabrics genuinely look expensive, even up close. I never worry that I’ll order something online and it will show up looking like a polyester dishrag. This sweater is just my latest find.

5 Favorite Drugstore Beauty Products

Wednesday, September 06, 2017

As much as I love my department store skincare indulgences, I’m not about to pay top dollar when a drugstore buy will do the same job (or better). This is especially true when it comes to bath and body products. I rely on a basket full of drugstore options to keep my skin in top shape. These are my current favorite drugstore beauty products, all of which I use every day.

I start my morning with this African Black Soap Body Wash. African Black Soap is traditionally made from natural ingredients like palm ash, tamarind extract, tar, and plantain peel and is used to treat skin conditions. My skin is prone to being dry, red, and irritated, and somehow this seems to help. I also love that it’s free of nasty things like parabens, phthalates, and mineral oil, and it’s organic, fair trade, and cruelty-free. Plus, it has a fresh, non-cloying scent. It’s really kind of perfect.

Loving This Week: Pointy Ankle Boots + Instant Matcha

Tuesday, September 05, 2017

Frame Denim - No. 6 Boots - Panatea Matcha - J.Hannah Nail Polish - Theory Sweater

Is it fall yet? Because I’m super over this whole late summer fires-and-floods weather. As I sit here in Northern California blissfully dry, but choking on literally brown air caused by a ring of devastating fires currently charring hundreds of thousands of acres, I’m dreaming of drizzly fall days. Everything will be better in the fall, right?

Perhaps I’m being a bit Pollyanna. But, new jeans, patent boots, and ribbed wool sweaters are making me smile for a bit. Also, did you know that instant matcha is a thing? I’m pretty excited about this discovery. It's the little things.

Check out all of my favorite online shopping finds for the week…

1. Frame Le Original Cropped Jeans, $250.00
The leader of the pack when it comes to oh-so-trendy high-waist, cropped straight-leg denim, these Frame jeans are back in stock for fall in four different washes.

Loving This Week: Fall’s Best Clogs + a New Byredo Scent

Tuesday, August 29, 2017

Industry Standard Tee Shirt - No. 6 Clogs - SeeVees for J.Crew Sneakers - Byredo Fragrance - Banana Republic Sweater

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I really want a pair of clogs for fall. I’ve been sucked into the gravitational pull of No. 6’s truly outstanding clogs. Now I can’t imagine a perfect fall wardrobe without them.

In other shopping news, Byredo has a new fragrance which is sure to be just as amazing as their other offerings. Bonus points for drawing inspiration from the ‘60s counter-cultural movement. Check out all of my favorite shopping finds for the week…

1. Industry Standard The Sylvie Tee, $45.00
Who isn’t perpetually on the hunt for the world’s most perfect tee shirt? This 100% organic cotton option is made in Los Angeles and features a slim, but not tight, silhouette. It’s been getting loads of good press. Definitely worth a try.

These Are SpaceNK’s Best-Selling Lip Balms Right Now

Wednesday, August 23, 2017

I live in a state of perpetually chapped lips. Consequently, I have lip balm stashed just about everywhere. My purse, car, desk, and bathroom all house multiple lip balm tubes, just in case I need options. It’s definitely my desert island beauty pick, and I’m always on the lookout for the next best thing.

In the name of finding the next best lip balm, let’s consult the wisdom of the masses. Here are the best-selling lip balms at luxury beauty shop SpaceNK right now…

The cult-favorite Baume de Rose works on both lips and cuticles to smooth and protect, and has an amazing delicate floral scent.

Loving This Week: Gucci’s Bee Keyring + a Homesick Candle

Monday, August 07, 2017

Urban Decay Eye Shadow - Homesick Candles - Hunter Boots - Gucci Key Ring - Vince Dress

I absolutely love the new Queen Margaret line of Gucci handbags adorned with intricate queen bees. Unfortunately, most of the pieces are priced in budget-busting territory. Except the little brass keyring, which is adorable.

In other shopping news, I found this new line of hand-poured candles that come in scents designed to remind you of specific states. They’d make a perfect going away gift for someone heading out of state, or for a friend who has been away from home for a while.

Check out all of my favorite shopping finds of the week…

1. Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics, $54.00
Am I the only one who didn’t know that Urban Decay makes this 12-color Naked Basics palette? I have the original 6-color Naked Basics and wear it pretty much every day. This jumbo-sized basic palette contains a range of matte shades that do not appear in either the Naked Basics or Naked2 Basics sets, so no repeaters, and nearly every color is daytime-appropriate.

Loving This Week: An AMO Exclusive + Purple Hair Serum

Monday, July 31, 2017

Moth Sweater - Everlane Handbag - Vince Shoes - Orlando Pita Hair Serum - AMO Jeans

The star of this week’s online shopping show is a cotton-blend striped knit that is eye-catching, but not obnoxiously so. The muted tones of the color palette take what could be an eyesore and turns it into a goes-with-anything pullover. And it’s available for under $100.

In other shopping news, the first color-enhancing hair serum I’ve seen. I’m fascinated by how much better than traditional color-enhancing shampoo this serum must work.

Check out all of my favorite online shopping picks for the week…

1. Moth Striped Dolman Pullover, $98.00
This striped knit from one of the Anthropologie house labels has a vaguely ‘70s vibe that will pair nicely with high-waist denim or a midi jean skirt.

These Are Sephora’s Best-Selling Sheet Masks Right Now

Wednesday, July 26, 2017

Have you jumped on the sheet mask bandwagon yet? Not only are these conveniently packaged masks insanely popular, they are also super effective. The single-serve sizes mean that you can mix and match masks from day to day to treat whatever issue is most worrisome at that moment.

Whether you are looking for a place to start exploring sheet masks, or you are an old pro on the hunt for new formulas, this list will get you moving in the right direction. These are the five best-selling sheet masks at Sephora right now…

This moisture-enhancing sheet mask targets your face with SK-II’s famous pitera skincare blend. It was also recently named “best mask” in InStyle magazine’s annual Best Beauty Buys issue.

Loving This Week: Wonder Woman’s Lipstick + Modern Sneakers

Monday, July 24, 2017

Vince Blouse - Frye Sneakers - Tumi Crossbody - Perricone MD Lipstick - T by Alexander Wang Dress

One major retailer has a massive sale, and all the others seem to feel the need to do the same. I’m not complaining, just observing. With the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale going strong, pretty much every major online retailer has some sort of sale attempting to compete. There are amazing deals to be found everywhere.

In other shopping news, I have found Wonder Woman’s lipstick. I’m pretty excited about that. Check all of my favorite shopping finds for the week…

1. Vince Shirred-Neck Silk Top, $295.00 $143.40
I just picked this up at the Last Call sale over the weekend and this picture does not do it justice. This short-sleeve blouse has a beautiful drape and the silk has a barely perceptible sheen that makes it feel sumptuous. It’s completely opaque, unlike most of Vince’s silk shirts, and perfect for work. I highly recommend it.

Loving This Week: New Gucci + That Fetish Lip Gloss

Monday, July 17, 2017

Gucci Clutch - Marc Jacobs Beauty Gloss - Black Crane Dress - Citizens of Humanity Jeans - 3.1 Phillip Lim Shoes

Have you seen the new bee-themed Gucci gear flooding the stores? It’s so expensive, but so gorgeous. Elsewhere in the shopping universe, two-toned jeans are a thing now. And, I think I kind of like them.

Check out all of my favorite shopping finds for the week…

1. Gucci Queen Margaret Matelasse Leather Clutch, $2,390.00
This bejeweled bee motif is both brand new to Gucci and somehow instantly iconic. Only Gucci could pull that off.

The 7 Best Things On Sale At Sephora Right Now

Saturday, July 15, 2017

It is a truth universally acknowledged that prestige-brand beauty products very rarely go on sale. It’s a treat to find lines like Marc Jacobs Beauty and Bobbi Brown marked down. Plus, so many steals from the Sephora Collection line. Here’s the best of what’s on sale at Sephora right now…

Inspired by those social media photo filters we all love so much, this eyeshadow collection includes 10 shades selected around a specific filter. I’m partial to the Sunbleached Palette pictured here. An Overcast Palette and Vintage Palette are also available, all at this sale price.

Sephora Collection Colorful Eyeshadow Filter Palette in Sunbleached

Loving This Week: Le Labo’s Huge Discovery Set + Exclusive CoH Jeans

Monday, July 03, 2017

Topshop Sandals - Citizens of Humanity Jeans - Charles Henry Dress - Soko Necklace - Le Labo Fragrance

I’ve reached peak obsession when it comes to Le Labo Discovery Sets. One of these days I’ll commit to a single scent and lay down the cash it takes to get a full bottle. I’m leaning towards Rose 31, if you’re interested. But, for now, I’m having too much fun playing the fragrance field. The fifteen-scent Discovery Set is next on my to-buy list.

In other shopping news, the Shopbop Citizens of Humanity denim collab is just as fabulous as you’d expect from these two brands. I’m shocked that one of the best pieces is currently on sale.

Check out all of my favorite shopping finds for the week…

1. Topshop Dare Mid-Heel Sandal, $48.00
They look like last spring’s Bally. They are incredibly affordable Topshop. Sure, they’re faux leather and likely won’t last more than a season. But, at this price, totally worth it.
